On June 21, Attorney Ziqing Su and Attorney Zoe Zhang from Sunway Law Firm were invited by Dr. Li Hanyan, a jurisprudence Ph.D. and full-time faculty member at the School of Law, Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance, to engage in close-range exchanges with students and share practical legal insights.
In the first half of the session, Attorney Ziqing Su guided students through legal research techniques and practical operational experience. By integrating standardized guidelines with case studies, he outlined key points in legal research. The session focused on four critical aspects: problem identification/clarification, research execution, data screening and processing, and the preparation of research records and reports, providing a detailed, step-by-step explanation of the research methodology and workflow.

Expanding the discussion to the current development of generative AI in the legal services industry, Attorney Ziqing Su emphasized that future legal professionals must not only focus on mastering foundational legal research skills but also remain attentive to emerging trends in the legal field. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, legal technology has been assigned profound significance in the digital era. It drives the digitization of legal services, enables efficient resolution of disputes, and empowers law firms to broaden their service scope. Though the project is still in its nascent stage, its potential is substantial and deserves recognition.

The sharing session generated significant enthusiasm among students for Sunway Law Firm and its legal technology initiatives. In the second half, Attorney Zoe Zhang shared practical experiences accumulated as a family law attorney. The presentation was divided into two parts: the first analyzed statistical data released by the Supreme People's Court and online legal information platforms, revealing the overall volume of family law cases and the proportion of subcategories, thereby underscoring the pivotal role of family law governance within the broader social governance framework. Additionally, through a case study of a three-year property division case handled by Sunway, the session illustrated the unique attributes of family law matters, which intertwine legal principles with ethical and emotional considerations, and explored the essential role of family law practitioners in navigating such complex cases.

The second part focused on the practical workflow of handling family law cases. By systematically outlining each module, Attorney Zhang demonstrated the full lifecycle of legal practice in family law and highlighted critical practical considerations. This included stages such as initial client consultation, case intake and processing, and final case closure with internal controls. The session emphasized that legal professionals must not only master relevant laws and regulations but also strictly adhere to legal practice standards to safeguard their professional integrity.

Through this sharing, Attorneys Ziqing Su and Zoe Zhang from Sunway Law Firm showcased their extensive experience and profound expertise, offering students an in-depth understanding of the firm’s practice areas and legal technology initiatives. Sunway Law Firm will continue to foster long-term, stable, and in-depth collaboration with the School of Law at Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance. Its attorneys will actively engage in external sharing activities, dedicated to cultivating more legal professionals with a strong sense of social responsibility and innovative capabilities.
